The Internet gateway in my apartment failed last week, which is why I've been incommunicado. I apologise to those of you who have been waiting to hear from me. The gateway was only replaced on Monday, and I had fallen out of the Internet "habit" by then -- but I'm back.
Anyways, while I'm here, I may as well update you. Not much has changed here, but I am looking for a new daytime job for the next semester. I still have my evening job and private students.
As far as Christmas goes, thank Allah I'm not in North America this December! It's nothing short of fantastic to be so far removed from Christmas. Sadly, it's not a total isolation. There is the occasional song or Christmas tree, but nothing too ostentatious. Thankfully, they waited patiently until actual DECEMBER to start celebrating Christmas in Taiwan. Crazy, I know. Unfortunately, there is some Christmas cheer at the foreigner bar I frequent. We'll have to see how that goes.
That's about it for now. The weather now dips to about 16-18 °C at night, rising to 21-23 °C in the daytime, with light rain every second day. That may not sound cold, as I look at the Ottawa: Light rain, 2 °C icon at the top of my screen, but the cool, humid wind is quite pervasive. After spending all summer between 27 and 35, it's quite a drop. At least it's cool enough that I can finally wear my sharp overcoat and my swanky leather jacket.
Oh, one last thing: I was recently informed that people besides isolationism and pops actually read this stuff! Please post comments and interact with me -- I'd post more if I knew people were interested, or had questions. I know the signing-up thing might be a pain, but that's a sad reality of the wild-west-web these days.
(I know I keep in touch with some of you by web-mail, but my access to canada.com from Taiwan is pretty sluggish -- I'll often start up my webmail homepage, then go do something else while it loads, and forget about webmail entirely. Oh, and don't worry too much about posting private stuff on the Internet -- just keep it a touch vague and we should be fine ;) The secret? Pronouns pronouns pronouns)
Anyways, more later! I'll probably tack some more comments onto my pics throughout the week-end. Zai4jian4.

Welcome Back Kotter
... Don't worry, it's not like your regular readers noticed. You've gone two months without so much as a visit (let alone a post) before; a week without a login is child's play! ;)
The Christmas stuff sounds kind of nice. I still haven't found anywhere that plays Monster Mash seven times a day starting on October 1st, but I think that's just because Hallowe'en hasn't been commercialised enough yet. Maybe if we sent out "wish list" catalogues with "$25 and under", "$50 and under", "$100 and under", etc. candies?
do you check your hotmail at

Quick Hello from Winterpeg
Hey there Marcus,
Well I'm here, a couple of blocks away from our most famous intersection. It's cold with blowing snow out there - yeah, what more can I say! Looking forward to seeing some of our relatives tonight for dinner. Take care and let us know what you've been up to.
LoL,
- Mumus
